What is VIES
VIES is the EU system for validating VAT numbers of businesses registered for VAT in EU member states. For Czech VAT numbers we additionally enrich the result with company data from ARES and registration status from MFCR.
When to use VIES
Use VIES when you need to quickly validate a foreign VAT number for VAT exemption purposes when supplying goods or services to another EU member state.
Frequently asked questions
For Czech VAT numbers we add the company name and address from ARES and the VAT registration status from MFCR — VIES alone often doesn't return this data for Czech entities.
