Why verify a bank account
Under Czech VAT law (§109), the recipient of a supply becomes jointly liable for unpaid VAT if payment is made to an account that is not published in the VAT payer account registry. Checking the account beforehand avoids this liability.
How verification works
For the given VAT number we check VAT registration status (ARES/MFCR), the unreliable payer status, and whether the entered account or IBAN is published in the GFŘ account registry.
Frequently asked questions
Foreign bank accounts are not listed in the Czech registry — this is not an error, it simply means publication cannot be checked for a foreign IBAN.
